Power supply repair service

At Ferrus Power we not only design and manufacture custom power supplies to specification, but as an added service for our customers offer a comprehensive repair service for any brand of power supply.

We are currently servicing brands including Farnell,Advance Power,Weir,Weyrad,Coutant Lambda,Astec,Kingshill,Danica,Skynet,Umec,Philips,Powerline,Power-one,Daren/Stadium Power,Zicon(XP),Meanwell,Lite-on,Powersource,Cherokee,Quel, Europower and Zenith to name but a few and our servicing capability currently covers most AC-DC and DC-DC converters from power levels of 1W to 10kW.

All service equipment is calibrated to NAMAS standards. Measurements are taken usitising high precision electronic loads or dedicated ATE equipment for volume product.



All servicing is carried out within our 6000sqft manufacturing facility by our team of highly experienced engineers  who have at their disposal all of the technical equipment used by our engineering design team. Quality is assured and controlled under our ISO9001:2000 status. In addition we are audited on a regular basis by both UL and CSA to ensure that we are operating to the requirements of UL60950 and CSA 22.2.

As our primary business is within the design and manufacture of switchmode power supplies we are fully conversant with all aspects of switchmode technology and as such ensure that all repaired product is repaired to the standard of original manufacture. In addition whilst servicing we will indicate aspects within the design of your product which may require attention if necessary.

 
What can we offer that your average service / repair house may not ?

All power supplies are repaired by our highly experienced service engineers who specialise in Switched mode power supply test and repair only. We do not repair any other type of equipment.

All repaired power supplies undergo full retest after repair to original manufacturers test procedure where possible and soak tested at full power for a minimum of 3 hrs as per our manufactured products. Our soak facility caters for up to 200 units at a time.
Testing is controlled under our BS EN 9001: 2000 quality procedures.

All serviced product is soaked for at least 3 hrs under load with mains cycled at 30 minute intervals. Output voltages are continuously monitored under soak test via external PC/DVM system.




We always replace with components to original design where possible so as not to infringe upon
UL/CSA/VDE safety approvals. 


All power supplies are safety tested for HI-POT and Earth continuity to EN60950 standards as per our manufactured products prior to dispatch.

All products are safety tested prior to final test and dispatch including earth continuity. For medical products we are able to measure levels of Earth Leakage <300uA.
















The level of confidence of our servicing is such that we provide a warranty for all work carried out for
12 months. Others only offer 3 or 6 months.
 

Due to the level of experience of our engineers we can trace and rectify most faults quickly. This is reflected in the price we charge. As a design and manufacturing company we don't make our living from repairs and thus won't charge you the earth !

Holding large stocks of discrete components for manufacture ensures not only reduced service charges but also fast turnaround of repairs.



As we manufacture power supplies in volume we benefit from reduced component pricing and also hold large stocks of a wide range of  semiconductors used within the power supply industry as well as passive components.
These savings are passed on to our customers.


 


 



 




If you are experiencing repetitive failureThermal Imaging Services with your third party product or have reliability concerns we can provide a detailed digital thermal image of your product under load via our in house thermal imaging system. We can also provide pre- compliance EMC test sweep results and analysis via our in house environmental chamber.




Last, but not least, from our own products, we know that if an SMPS fails there are usually a number of additional components that should be replaced apart from the obvious, to ensure reliability. We value our reputation as a leading manufacturer and as such will try our utmost to ensure that your serviced product will offer the performance as when first manufactured
 ( though it could never be as reliable as our own !! ).

Our typical lead time for repairs is
5 - 14 days but priority service also available for 24Hr 48Hr turnaround ( subject to small premium and availability of spares ).
